2006 Pinot Noir

…And then there were three! With these warm spring greetings from Napa Valley, we are pleased to offer our A-list customers the inaugural release of our 2006 Coup De Foudre Pinot Noir.

Our Pinot Noir (black label) comes to fruition a little later than our Cabernet Sauvignon (red label) and Cuvee 37.2 (blue label) due to the delicate nature of this wine and our desire to launch it with the impressive 2006 vintage. It’s been said, during “aha” moments of varietal bliss, that discovering a good Pinot Noir is like finding religion all over again. At Coup De Foudre winery, we’ve long harbored a passion to produce a truly world class Pinot Noir.

Our three-acre, south-facing hillside vineyard is located in the eastern part of the Santa Rita Hills appellation of Santa Barbara.  The microclimate, characterized by morning fog, yields long growing seasons.  The grapes take their time to develop, resulting in great purity and expressiveness. This debut vintage of our estate Coup De Foudre 2006 Pinot Noir seduces with vibrant spiciness and a harmonious bouquet of figs, wild berries, violets and pepper. It will leave you absolutely breathless!

            The downside of our desire to produce only the best from our vineyard is that, when the tank ran dry, we’d bottled a mere 125 cases.  We hope to increase our production, gently, over the years; but for now, we can allocate this wine to a regrettably small portion of our mailing list.

As always, Coup De Foudre wines feature peel-off labels – “detacher ici” – with room to record the special occasion that warranted the special bottle of wine.  Allocations of Coup De Foudre Pinot Noir 2006 will be strictly limited to one six-bottle pack per customer; and they will ship in September 2008 in wooden boxes. The price per bottle is $95 ($570/pack), plus applicable sales tax for wine shipped in California. UPS charges will apply ($45 per pack).

            The 2006 vintage offerings for our Stag’s Leap Cabernet Sauvignon and Cuvee 37.2 will be mailed out in early summer. We were thrilled when the Wine Enthusiast (Dec 31, 2007) listed Coup De Foudre among the top 100 rated wines of the world this past year; and we expect great things to come from our Pinot Noir.
