2007 Pinot Noir
We are pleased to offer you our second vintage of Coup De Foudre Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills 2007. Once again, our low-yielding vineyard produced a mere 200 cases, which means that we are only able to satisfy a small portion of our most valued customers with this release.
The 2007 growing season was about as perfect as they come here in California. Dry and mild conditions from bud break to harvest resulted in a normal-sized crop, but with small and perfectly-formed clusters. The lack of heat spikes allowed for a few additional weeks of ripening, producing beautifully balanced and physiologically ripe grapes by harvest on October 10. Our three-acre Rio Vista vineyard (clones 2A and 667 on rootstock 101-14) in the far eastern end of the Sta. Rita Hills thrives in a sedimentary soil consisting of limestone composite and a marine layer of sandy loam. After spending 16 months in a combination of 33% new French oak (Francois Freres and Rousseau) and 66% 1-2 year old French cooperage, we bottled. Allocations of Coup De Foudre Pinot Noir 2007 will be strictly limited to one six-pack per customer; and will ship to you this September, weather permitting, in wooden boxes.
As Helen Rowland advocates in her quotation, “Falling in love consists merely in uncorking the imagination and bottling the common sense” our goal is to consistently throw common sense to the wind and push the wine-making limits in our ever-concerted effort to craft truly exceptional Pinot Noir. We hope your experience of uncorking a bottle that reflects our passion in the vineyard is dominated by imagination and true love!
This wine is SOLD OUT.
